Are you remembering? The better question is: What have you already forgot? You, Brenda Fantroy-Johnson, having found yourself amidst the ruins. The little girl lost, the one who knew nothing. The one who only wanted to lay in the grass and smell the flowers. Still like that today. Climb in a cherry tree, ride your bike in the wind. Be free. Even on the mountain, people say: Move Brenda.
Perseverance. Guilt and shame does not look good on you. Like a sigh, let it go. Breath it back out and away. Remember you found yourself. Not lost but found. You are the tall strong tree that branches out with love and with grit. We, you and I, me and myself have gone through much. As if my portal to the new me is closing. Don’t let it fade. Crystalize these moments as if it was a disco ball. Sparkles are thrown off. But don’t let it close. The you that you have become is still there. Persevere, young lady in your 60thyear.
Look at your life. Feel the earth in your toes. Keep grounded on top of the earth. She loves you, but darkness loves to pull you back. There is sunlight in my spirit. It’s an un-equal battle. One that has you cast as a winner. You won from the very beginning. Which began before you were in your mother’s womb. He holds you as if you were a fledging in an eagle’s nest. You have always been safe. You will always be warm. There is goodness in this light.
Can you remember now, how it felt to come to believe? Almost, yes even better than that child-like first belief. All things are now possible. This you were not told. This you were broken down, so that you could see and know, so you would believe. That was the only way out. Remember?
Don’t ever forget that you were chosen by God to survive. You were lost and found then given strength to persevere. To excel. To conquer. More than to just come through to the other side, you were give a powerful grace where that word; Grace, does not even seem powerful enough to capture all you were given.
So, yes, ride your bike in the wind. Feel the grass in your toes as you lay and smell the earth and all that has been provided for you! Find your water. You have all you need. God has given you all you need for this new day. Rejoice in it.
Remember who you are and where you came from. Never forget.
