I remember getting the sensation or feeling that he was hyped up or something. There was some sort of male thing going on between he and my husband, Harvey that I didn’t quite feel I was a part of. I assumed it began after Harvey picked them up from the airport. I couldn’t go because I had to work. Now it seemed to be continuing. A sort of jockeying for position, as if Harvey, Jr and maybe to a lesser extent my cousin Jackie were thoroughbreds lined up at the gate waiting for the gun to go off. As they entered the front room, the shit talking, disguised as friendly banter continued.
Harvey wanted Jr. to know how well I had done for myself. Knowing my husband, he probably talked about me all the way from the airport. Harvey loves to tell anyone who will listen about me. Being a salesman, he’s always on and sometimes, I think, I am his favorite topic. I’m watching the action at the gate, like a player deciding on who to back. Eventually I give up and decide that the better wager is on me. I need to encourage my outcome of this male dynamic. Two alfa’s in the house. And so they are off, a week of this just might do me in.
